Welcome to STRAY ACTION FOR DOGS

Here at DEERNESS KENNELS - STRAY ACTION we are committed to re-homing all our stray and rescue dogs whenever possible.

We have a non-destruction policy so that all dogs have a safe haven until a suitable home can be found.
These dogs are mostly homeless through no fault of their own, through family circumstances, owner's ill health, bereavement, being abandoned or abused, or just that their owners don't want them anymore.

OUR PLEDGE IS TO KEEP ALL HEALTHY STRAY AND RESCUE DOGS UNTIL REHOMED OR PUT IN A PLACE OF SAFETY.

In 2005 to 2006 we put central heating in, also double glazing and tiling for our strays and rescue kennels.

We aim to spend any amount necessary on saving all healthy stray and rescue dogs.

  • In 2007 we built a recovery room for all dogs to be neutered before rehoming if possible. This is a block where they are kept warm and quiet for a few days so they can recover from the visit to the Vets.

  • In 2009 we had a new reception, shop, and Education Centre built.

  • We have built a fantastic play run for our stray and rescue dogs which the dogs and walkers really appreciate it means the dogs can have off lead exercise, our charity provided the funds from Sainsbury’s Durham store, we are looking into a play house for the dogs so they can spend some time out of the kennels.

Please call and visit us to pick up any leaflets you may need.

If you are able, please support our work in helping SAD dogs by making a donation via Paypal.

RE-HOMING A DOG

Homeless through no fault of their own, these dogs are desperate for a new, loving home. See our Galllery for details of dogs currently with us.

FOSTERING

If you are unable to offer a permanent home to a dog for any reason, why not consider short term or long term fostering?

DEERNESS KENNELS & CATTERY

We would like to invite your pets to spend their holiday with us. All our rooms have comfy beds, dry vet bed and fresh water with outside runs.
